first, a little history.
i moved to the left coast in '96. sporting auburn t-shirts, hats and a window sticker i get...
"auburn...who? what? where?...is that auburn, ca ... auburn, wa?"
no silly, have you heard of bo jackson? i think so... oddly, nike is based in oregon, but i guess oregonians are to busy sorting plastic bottles from the tin cans. i don't know.
fast forward november 30, 2010.
auburn...who? what? auburn, ca?
you get the picture. i felt safe. i felt secure. i didn't have ugay fans, tahd fans and corndogs telling me auburn sucks. i lived in my on little auburn world. flying the auburn flag from my home. no insults. no grief.
this past weekend, i was sporting a brand new orange "auburn" hooded sweatshirt. at the grocery store, i get a few looks with a few "go ducks". i even got a "go auburn". mostly fun, but a few crimson tahdish, "go ducks". even a friend of my in the grocery stores says, "those duck fans are arrogant bastards".
sunday...the skirt (wearing my sweatshirt) and her friend are at the mall. they exit the mall and standing at the cross walk...rainy...hands full of shopping bags...a guy in a car doesn't let them cross...as he proceeds to drive by them he rolls down the window...shouts "auburn sucks, go ducks".
classy. i expected a little more from quack nation.
