CF Awards...
- Did you notice Cam and Nick constantly making glances towards Chip Kelly and LaMichael James? How much shit talking went on from our end this past week? I've got no problems with it.
- Patrick Peterson was definitely deserving of the Bednarik award. He's a man amongst boys in the SEC, and I have a feeling he'll be a top 5 corner in the NFL in week 1 of the 2011 season.
- I wonder how many BCS championship teams have only had two guys up for any kind of substantial award? I want to say that last year, there was Ingram, McClain, Arenas, and Cody at the CF Awards. I could be wrong.
The Heisman Trophy...
- As the smoke settles, it's starting to become very clear: Cam Newton is one of, if not, the best player in the history of college football.
- He routinely scored more than 4 touchdowns per game.
- Every game, he put the team on his shoulders and carried them through the endzone.
- He never once complained or looked frustrated when the defense would give up points or when the offense spuddered from fumbles or missed blocks.
- Even when faced against NFL talent and the toughest gameplans, he pulled through to not only lead the team to victory, but to put up Playstation type numbers.
- Speaking of Playstation, most people would feel bad if they created a player like Cam to play on their dynasty team.
- 6'6. 250 pounds. 4.5 speed. A cannon for an arm with pretty good accuracy. High endurance. Ball protection skills. Strong.
- Cam Newton should have been the biggest Heisman winner of all time. If the story continues to be that Cam did nothing wrong and Auburn did nothing wrong and the NCAA lets both parties off Scott-Free because they did nothing wrong, then there are people in the sports media that deserve to be run out of town.
- His speech was great:
- "You don't know how much they do behind the scenes."
- "Blessed since coming out of the womb."
- "Fuck you Thayer Evans. When I get my millions, I'm going to hire someone to cut your balls off."
The Muschamp Hire...
- Talk about a changing of the guard.
- Will Muschamp is the antithesis to Urban Meyer.
- Urban Meyer was dull, quiet, and sophisticated. Will Muschamp is exhilirating, boisterous, and wild.
- Urban Meyer was a spread offense guru who wanted to practice trickery to get points. Will Muschamp is a defensive guru who will want to control the clock much like his previous mentors Nick Saban and Tommy Tuberville did.
- Urban Meyer seemingly did not enjoy coaching football unless they had a comfortable lead. Will Muschamp breathes football and has since he played at Georgia twenty years ago.
- Urban Meyer was a smug asshole. Will Muschamp is an unsatisfied asshole.
- It's going to be interesting to see how Florida does next year. Florida has players groomed for the Meyer spread. I highly doubt Muschamp will want to run that offense. Growing pains await.
The Pony Excess...
- "ESPN knew what they were doing when they aired it after the Heisman. They know what's about to come out" - Facebook status by an Alabama douchebag.
- ESPN scheduled this show after the Heisman for ratings. They advertised it along with the Heisman Trophy advertisemnts for ratings. They wanted to connect Cam and Auburn to the Pony Excess for ratings.
- And ratings I'm sure they received.
- Very interesting story. I never knew the cheating was so widespread in the SWC. I read an article afterwards that discussed how the cheating didn't stop after SMU's death penalty. SMU's boosters were so pissed off about the ruling that they started paying players at other schools in an attempt to get them in trouble as well - and they succeeded.
- I also thought it was interesting how the growth and attitude of the city of Dallas influenced what went on with SMU.
- I wonder why SMU received the death penalty and why Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, and Arkansas did not.
- Could it be that those schools are bigger money generating schools with more history in college football? Could it be that SMU was an easy target and an easy way to make an example of somebody?
- This is why no one respects the NCAA. It's why we were damn lucky to see Cam be allowed to play football. The NCAA seems to be just as corrupt as the cheaters.
