Since There was a mention of slaw on your bbq sammy, I am going to place a hot slaw recipe here. It's great on a bbq sammy, on the side and best of all, it takes a hot dog to a whole new level.
Veggie Ingredients
2 cups - Grated green cabbage
2 Tbs - Grated carrot
1 Tbs - Grated onion
1 Tbs - Grated green pepper (no seeds or membrane)
Or if you are lazy like me, dice up a bell pepper and get the slaw in a bag mix and use the food processor.
Sauce Ingredients
1/4 tsp - Paprika
1/2 tsp - Red cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp - Salt (non-iodized)
1/4 cup - Sugar
1 Tbs - Goya/Crystal hot sauce (or similar)
2 Tbs - Ketchup
4 Tbs - Prepared yellow mustard (like French's)
1/4 cup - White vinegar (add last, stir-in)
1/4 cup - Apple cider vinegar (add last, stir-in)
With a medium sized sauce pan, mix the Paprika, Cayenne Pepper salt and sugar in a bowl until they are kind of blended. Then add the Ketchup, Mustard and Hot Sauce and mix until you almost have a paste like substance. Pour in the vinegars a little at a time and continue to mix. Heat it up just short of boiling and then remove. Let it cool for about 15 to 20 minutes and then pour over the veggies and refrigerate for about 16-24 hours.
Makes a damn tasty slaw.
