Alabama Defense
« on: November 22, 2010, 06:05:03 AM »
I keep seeing a large portion of the media calling Alabama the best defense Auburn is going to see all year.

I would have said LSU's defense was better.

Anyone have a clue why they continue to say this?  Is it a statistical comparison or something?

Well, its just like all the Cam saga shit. They are looking for ratings. Now that there is the IB coming up, they are going to pump up bama to make this look like the biggest game of the century. Well, I mean it is, we already knew that though.

I kept hearing that all season, my question was always, Who have they stopped?

Their schedule has been a series of creampuff offenses except for South Carolina and Arkansas.  They lost one and nearly lost the other after giving up 350+yds of passing.  Auburn should be able to run and throw on these bums.

I know the Turd response would be Auburn hasn't stopped anybody either, but at least we can hang half a hundred on the board to make up for it.

Not worried about them defensivley.  Yes, they will bring a stout defense and yes, Lord Saybinz will have the most masterful, wonderful, stupendous, outstanding, unbelievable plan ever devised in the history of Coachdom to stop this offense.  But...every team they have played to date has tried and failed at the same thing.  LSU was giving up 83 yards a game on the ground coming in.  What did AU rush for...440?  The UGladites were allowing barely over a 100 a game and were torched for 3 times that much.  In my opinion, UGA did the best job so far in "containing" Cam and making him earn his yards.  He still went off for 153 on the ground.

All the hype and trash talk and planning and scheming won't do shit when #2 is just plain bigger, faster and stronger than everyone else on the field.  I don't talk much shit myself and don't think I am now.  That's just a fact.  Until someone proves he can be stopped at this level, it is what it is....deal with it.

It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

A very valid point that all the other teams we beat would agree with. I don't see this changing this week either.

Big Jeffrey is gonna' make a name for himself in this game.  So without Blanc in the rotation for the first half, who will be the 4th guy in the middle?  Clayton and Fairley will start with Whittaker coming in.  Who gets the reps in the 4th spot?

So we'll have Nosa and Antoine as usual with who...Lemonier and Dee Ford behind them?

Yeppers to who as the 4th man in the rotation?  I know they've been very consistent rotating Whittaker and Blanc on the interior and I was trying to recall who has been getting reps after that.  Seems like I've seen Kenneth Carter a lot late in games or against our high school opponents.

Bama's saving grace on defense this season has been turnovers. Pass rushing has been non existent for the most part. They have also had a hard time containing ANYTHING coming around the edge.  McCaleb on a speed sweep worries me more than Cam gashing us. Our ends and linebackers are big enough to take on Cam. Not to say Cam won't get his yards, but I am confident that Saban will have a better plan to defend Cam than anyone else Auburn has played. Plus, regardless of what yall say, Auburn hasn't  had a test on the road like they will face Friday. Kentucky has never been a tough place to play and they had Auburn on the ropes.

I don't think on the road makes much difference at all.  Crowds are great and all and may will a team through a tight, close game by keeping them inspired.  But, once a game starts for the most part, it's about execution, plain and simple.  Agreed on the road tests and I'm sure this will easily be the best team AU faces.  I would counter the UK argument by saying that even The Chin just recently admitted that they were hesitant to turn Newton loose up to that point.  It was right about that game that the staff realized that he literally can't be stopped and you started seeing his carry totals and overall contributions rise tremendously.

The bottom line for me is this...

Can your offense score enough points to keep up with ours?

Statistically Arkansas and Kentucky have better offenses than bama.
Scoring wise Arkansas is better than bama's with Kentucky, Georgia and South Carolina all within 2 points of bama.

I'm just not seeing it, no matter what stadium we play in.
