I've already spoken my mind about where I stand if it turns out that Auburn and Cam are in fact dirty in this whole mess. Won't go there. But until then, I'm going to continue to take a head in the sand, orange & blue outlook on this issue and support my team and school with everything until someone proves otherwise. Now, I can understand how the rest of the world views our beloved program right now. And the history of this conference and indeed, our University and their scrapes with the almighty NCAA would seem to justify that perception. This is absolutely a guilty until proven innocent scenario in the eyes of the general sporting public. Makes no difference to the NCAA but as fans and alumni of this University, we should care to an extent.
Having said that, my orange and blue Costa Del Mar vision sees it like this. What I truly believe we are witnessing (Again, until someone proves otherwise) is in a sense, old news being rehashed and much ado about nada. Forget the Florida academic/parking ticket smear job that has zero relevance to the topic at hand. The real allegations are what? John Bond reported to MSU that Cam was being offered up for $$$ by a sleazy "agent". In addition, two MSU coaches say Cam/Cecil both talked $$$ with them. Anything else out there? Am I missing anything besides message board fodder, rumor, inyourendo and shenanigans? No? Okay, so let's go from there and deal with that.
As I've asked ealrier, did not MSU emphatically state they took all this information to the SEC/NCAA? And again, I would assume that to include the coaches version of conversations with teh Newtons. AND AGAIN....they had better have reported that or I want some answers as to why those coaches violated NCAA rules of reporting. But assuming they did....back in January...have we so quickly forgotten that Auburn has already told the world..."We knew about all this. We have already investigated all this. The SEC and NCAA already knew all this. They have already investigated all this. CAM IS ELIGIBLE".
Have they not already given us the answer? Is it possible that once the "Story" broke, the vultures descended and all these earth shattering revelations that come out daily....are OLD NEWS to the people that matter? All these reporters trying to make a name and get the scoop, are sucking hind tit and the people that matter are just shaking their heads.
So the only question remaining for me, is when is someone going to put this to bed? I'm well aware how slow the NCAA is and I wouldn't expect a statement within a week of this story coming out to the public. My hope is that the SEC pushes them to get some closure on this deal and concentrate on winning a MNC. That's the way I see it...until someone proves otherwise.
