Barry Mask was the very first Aubie.  He was also in the same fraternity I was in, so it's nice to see him do something non-stupid.

I have every intention of voting against every Democrat that I can tomorrow.

I'm not an Alabamian but I might consider relocating if the voters of Georgia are stupid enough to re-elect King Roy as Governor again.  Once was indeed enough.

Bump for discussion sake.  I watched all evening as the results came in.  Can't say that I am surprised that it all turned out the way it did.  I was surprised by some of the margin of victories in some races, but not surprised at the outcomes.

Agree with Brit Hume.  A solid night for Republicans, not as great as they wanted it to be, but it was a good night for them.

Same thing for some of the local races.  Not many surprises other than margin of victory.  I was surprised that a small town up the road was close at it was on the wet/dry vote.  Stayed dry by one vote.  I will imagine that the next time it comes up it will pass.  There were a lot of older folks (60+) that got out to vote no for this one.  I would imagine that several of them won't be voting next time and more of the younger people will get out and vote.

Despite the losses in Delaware, Nevada, and California it was a phenomenal night for Republicans and the Tea Party Movement!

I would even say it was a monumental GOP win because of the Gubernatorial, State House, and State Senate races across the nation!  Y'all might not realize what important wins they really are because of redistricting which will occur next year after the census this year.  This is truly the most grim news for the Democrats socialists.

I was up almost all night watching results come in and waiting for that delicious moment when King Roy Barnes had to make his concession speech in the Georgia Gubernatorial race.  Good riddance to his bad rubbish.

Speaking of which...GOOD RIDDANCE TO:

Nancy Pelosi as Speaker
The despicable Alan Grayson of Florida
The even more despicable Charlie Crist of Florida

And to put some salt in the Dem (and Libertarian?) wounds:

A Republican won The ONE's former Senate seat in Illinois (the grandest rebuke of them all)
At least two African American Republicans won, Lt. Col. Allen West of Florida being one (that ought to shake up the Congressional Black Caucus)
California Rejected the Pot Legalization Ballot Initiative (seriously?!)
Rand Paul won the contested Senate seat in Kentucky
John Kasich, former FoxNews Contributor, part-time stand-in for Rush, part-time stand-in for Bill O'Reilly won the Gubernatorial race in Ohio
Rory Reid (Harry Reid's son) LOST in Nevada
Sen. Russ Feingold LOST in Wisconsin
At least Two Dem House Chairmen that I am aware of LOST their re-election bids
The loathsome Arlin Spectre's former Senate seat was won by a Republican (Pat Toomey)
and there are so many more...

And I was personally gratified to see the North Carolina General Assembly went to a Republican majority for the first time since 1870!

And, did I say, good riddance to Roy Barnes!  Nathan Deal is Georgia's new Governor-elect; as a matter of fact the entire statewide elections went to the Republican column in Georgia.

I'm not entirely disappointed that the Dems still retain a very, very slim majority control of the Senate...this means that their feet can still be held to the political fire in two years.

I forgot to mention three candidates to keep your eyes on for 2012:

Senator-elect Marco Rubio (R-FL)
and
Senator-elect Rand Paul (R-KY)
and
Governor-elect Nikki Haley (R-SC)

All three gave absolutely phenomenal speeches last night.  I was well and truly impressed with each of them (despite my criticism of Rand in the past).

A couple of observations from the southeast corner of Alleybammey.  First, I am soooooooo glad this shit is over.  I have no idea how it was in your areas but if I had to hear one more day of negative campigning and/or another candidate say he/she is "Conservative and pro-life and pro-gun"....did I mention conservative....I might have taken out my own ad to scream shut the fuck up already.  Nothing against conservatives...I voted that way myself for the most part.  It was just that this campaign season seemed to go on longer than any I can remember and just dominated everything.

Locally, the bingo/gambling issue was the hot topic.  Local developers opened the electronic bingo hall, Country Crossings, early this year and our most esteemed Guvnah, Bob Riley, set out to shut it down.  It has been a fight of epic proportions, as it has with other bingo halls around the State.  It culminated with the Federal indictments and arrests of one of our local State Senators, along with numerous notable figures around the State....just before the election. It appears that arrest had more of a polarizing effect on people than some had planned and she retained her seat last night.

Maybe I hadn't heard enough about Martha Roby prior to the campaign to know how popular she was.  Don't know if people voted as much for her as they did against Bobby Bright after she based her entire campaign around the fact that Bright voted for Nancy Pelosi.  Not cool in some parts of the world to have your name associated with the distinguished and highly wrinkled, Mrs. Pelosi.

We did pass a vote to allow alkeyhawl sales after 1:00 p.m. on Sundays.  But, that's just in restaurants.  I'm living in one bassackwards area of the country.  Bingo and alkeyhawl, what's this world coming to?

Congratulations!  That ought to make Sunday Brunch all the more interesting.

I've always thought that those Blue Laws were such silliness as it regards to alcohol; I'm reminded of the old joke about the only place where Baptists don't recognize each other...in the Beer Aisle at the Piggly Wiggly.  (No offense to Baptists...or Piggly Wiggly...)

Oh, I definitely knew the importance of the Gubernatorial, State House, and State Senate races.  This is going to be huge and I mean huge concerning the political landscape for a long time.

Laughed audibly when they announced the results for Ill.  Danced a little jig when they announced the win for Paul.  I love me some Rand Paul, to tell you the truth, minus his old man's foreign policy, I love me some Ron Paul as well.  He speaks the truth and makes a lot of sense.  I honestly think that if were to have been elected POTUS, we would have our domestic and economic "poop in one sock".   I loved the fact that Lt. Col. Allen West won.  I really like him.  The win in Ohio was big, it will help support the GOP candidate in 2012.

To touch on Rubio.  I can't say enough about this guy.  Love his story, he seems to have it all together.  I will watch him closely, he very well could rank up there with Bobby Jindal and Duncan D Hunter.  Not to be confused with Duncan L Hunter, his old man, who I also liked very well.

I live about 20 minutes from Rogersville.  The wet/dry lost by one vote which was disappointing to me.  Not that I would have bought there, unless I was passing through, but those folks could have used the tax revenue and they voted it down.  Here's to more years of not having anything and continuing to be broke why Florence and Athens continues to grow and improve their schools, roads and open more restaurants.

I just found a short blurb on this subject posted on Townhall.com (see below).  You folk were having a DRY Oktoberfest?!?!  No personal offense but are you people out of your minds?!?!  That's not an Oktoberfest!

Quote
Cheers: Alabama home of dry Oktoberfest goes wet
By AP News
Wednesday, November 03, 2010

CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) — Cullman's famously dry Oktoberfest could be going wet.Voters in the north Alabama city have voted to legalize alcohol sales. That could open the door for organizers to begin selling beer at the annual German festival, but leaders still must make the final decision.Residents in four other north Alabama cities — Rogersville, Priceville, Hartselle and Boaz — all narrowly rejected ballot measures to go wet on Tuesday. The margin of defeat was only one vote in both Rogersville and Priceville, where the city council must go through provisional ballots before certifying the final outcome.

Cullman finally went wet.  People that were against it are acting like we just imported gangs, and strippers into our little city.
Let me know when the gangs and strippers get there.  I'll know it's time for me to make a visit.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
