Not one of the 15 voters doesn't think Cam is #1. Second place is a tight race between James & Moore, which goes to show that it's not even close for #1.

This Heisman race this year may actually be the biggest run away in the history of the award. There is no one even close in my mind. And I think that more and more people are seeing what I am seeing.

If Cam isn't injured that's how I see it too.  He may have a game where he doesn't have a huge game, and it may be because a defense chooses to stop him, and deal with Dyer and McCaleb and take their chances...and that could happen...but if Auburn wins, and he doesn't give the game away with picks or fumbles, then I can even see him having a pedestrian game, or even 2 and still be the guy to beat.

Somebody will figure a way to at least slow him down...maybe.  I was listening to some local sports talk this morning and they were discussing that very thing.  They used the example of Troy playing MTSU a few weeks ago and employing the same approach as Bama did with Tebow last year.  MTSU had Dasher, the do everything QB back and Troy basically had their D-lineman stalemate the O-line and don't force the QB's hand.  Bama did the same to Tebow in that they pushed hard straight ahead but never "Went beyond" him in an effort to contain him.

In other words, pretty much hold your ground and force him to throw it.  If that can be done, and that's a huge if, that may be the only way to slow him down.  I recall Arky positioning their ends a bit wider, trying to funnel him into runs up the middle, but that wound up playing right into his strength.  Ask #31 about that.

I think our OL is too good to let a defense just "stand their ground". That shit aint happening. If the defense doesn't try and get a good push up front, they are going to get blown the fuck back. If that happens, Cam, or Dyer, or however, will gain about 5 yards at least a play.

I don't know what the fuck you do really...every option team I have seen that has a good running QB is tough. Cam is a fucking EXCELLENT runner so it is nearly impossible to stop. I would make Dyer and McCalleb beat me. I would crash on Cam from play one...with multiple guys. I guess...the thing is, those other guys can and will beat you too...

And by the way snaggle, I am not sure that you can do with Cam what bama did with Tebow. Cam is fast enough to run around shit like that. Then you got him in your secondary taking on 200lb corners. That shit ain't fair either...

I guess the theory is to make him as one dimensional as possible and in Cam's case, the passing game is definitely what you want to limit him too.  Same with Tebow. If he was just a pocket passer, he'd be an "okay" player.  However, as you said, he may just run around any effort to stalemate him.  Every time I see this cat in person, it just amazes me how effortlessly he runs around peole or sidesteps them.  Did anyone notice in his highlite reel TD run Saturday where he dove and stretched the ball across the goal line..that he "turned it on" the last 10 yards?  He did all that bobbing and weaving and hand on the ground etc...then the last guy had an angle on him..so he decided to shift into another gear.  Holy shit.

Yep.  You can choose to stop Cam...it can be done.  You'll have to unbalance your defense to do it, and leave something else open, or you'll have to prepare like you do for the wishbone, which is a lost art among many DCs these days...and you'll have to tackle, and tackle, and tackle and tackle all day long.  Thing is, I think Gus is perfectly prepared to win a game with Cam gaining 4-5 yards a carry...even if they can play a sound "assignment oriented defense" designed to stop the option....you STILL have to tackle the ball carrier.  Cam falls forward for 5 yards.  And lets not forget play action passing either.  You think by late in the first half, or early 3rd Q, they aren't walking safeties up?  The LBs are taking an extra read step or committing to the run a little more quickly.  I'll say it again...a DC would be making a deadly mistake to think Cam is the only weapon on this offense, or that he's one dimensional.  And, all that said and done, then they still have to execute the brilliant defensive scheme by playing sound individual fundamentals and whip our OL and H Backs on their blocks.

I can't remember where I read this...may have been here...but I saw where one Heisman voter said the only thing Cam can possibly do for him not to vote him first every week from here out is if he starts only running backwards for the rest of the season.

Yeah. The thing that all the LSU people are saying is that they should have blitzed Cam. I will garuntee you that is the dumbest thing you can do. I honestly think that LSU played about as well on defense as you can expect. And Auburn still ran for 440 yards.

It's really simple math...we can line up with 3 and 4 WRs and still run the equivalent of I formation/Option football against only 6 men in the box.   As the guy pointed out, and like I did last week.  It's simple math when your QB is a legit run threat on EVERY down.  Vs 4 wide, the MOST they can put in the box is 7...5 OL, a RB, and Cam = 7.  That means they have to tackle Cam one on one within 5 yards of the LOS.  They HAVE to.   And to do that, they have to walk a safety down in the box and play our WRs in man.  And, more on that...when they do that, if they do that, their DBs are playing with their back to the LOS and Cam is 10 yards down field before they realize the guy they were covering is now blocking them.

Despite the yardage, I do believe LSU probably got more shots on CN than any team so far.  On that last possession to get a first and seal the game, I didn't want to see him run it any more.  He was taking some licks on those last few carries.

Cam is pretty good at avoiding the big hits actually.  The more I've watched, the more I've become comfortable with him running so much.
