Why don't you explain (this is not an attempt at sarcasm).
The offense wasn't more Nutt's than Malzahn's after the USC game. Nutt definitely took over playcalling at times, but if you were to look back at that season, it would be impossible to miss the Malzahn signature.
Not just the Wildcat. Remember "Woody", the trick play that we ran against y'all in 2006? Damn sure wasn't Nutt. We ran a sort of swinging-gate type trick play against Alabama that was out-of-the-blue and nothing like Nutt had ever attempted before. Back shoulder throws. Utilizing the tight end. You name it.
The Springdale parents didn't mutiny. They did have a sit-down with Broyles. They probably should have gone to Nutt first. They were concerned about things other than the direction of the offense. Some of them were admittedly kind of nutty, but there were things going that they had legit beefs with.
He demeans the Springdale folks for wanting to "air it out" despite having DMac, Felix, and Peyton...he should be mentioning that Gus went took the exact position at a lesser school. He took a cut in prestige and in pay. In visibility. That's how bad things were behind the scenes. Why else would he leave a winning program? Why else would those kids leave? It wasn't because they weren't getting playing time.
I wouldn't expect Low to get into the dirty laundry, but the insight he gives shows how little of an idea he has. If he DID know, he wouldn't have spun it so positively for Houston. He gave no reason for them to dislike each other except that we got blown out by USC in our first game. Which had zero to do with why they dislike each other.
It's just shitty journalism.
