Appalachian St. 4, Auburn 2: In Auburn, a day after overwhelming Appalachian State 17-0, Auburn stranded 11 baserunners and lost to the Mountaineers at Plainsman Park. The loss ended a seven-game Auburn winning streak. Starter Anthony Edens went five innings, gave up both Auburn runs and got the win. Closer Garrett Sherrill struck out Trent Mummey, Mike Bianucci and Josh Sanders in the ninth. He gave up a single to former Grissom standout Hunter Morris. Sanders had three hits and Morris two to lead Auburn on offense. Taylor Thompson took the loss (1-2), allowing all four runs in 11/3 innings. Bradley Hendrix, Michael Hurt, Evan Crawford and Bryan Woodall shut the Mountaineers down over the last 52/3 innings.
