Random Vent: Georgia
« on: October 04, 2010, 11:11:20 AM »
I just have to get this out there.

If there is ANY ONE team or fanbase in CFB that whines and is the most full of excuses, it has to be our friends over in Athens, GA. These people just cannot LOSE straight up. It is something with their insecure little minds. No no....there has to be more to the Dawgs just losing. Has to be an excuse. I mean, these are the precious Bulldog, they just don't lose to anyone fair and square. There was this one fumble see. Or, no wait, that ref - yeah he did it to us. Or no, wait - the damned FG kicker - yeah, he did it. If just that one little play had just went the other way, we woulda WON!! Right? Wrong.

On Thursday, I turned the radio on and listened (very rare occasion) to Finebaum. He said one thing I totally agree with. Which is what I said in the first paragraph. That Georgia is the whiniest, most excuse laden fanbase in all of sports (which Texas perhaps being a close 2nd). It is something to do with their pride. They are pathetic. Just accept that a sorry assed Big 12 North team who had not won back to back games in over 2 years, just whipped your ass. Turnovers as an excuse? Nope, Colorado had one as well. Penalties and biased refs? No way, penalties were pretty even. Well, well, well.......well nothing Bulldog fans. You got your ass kicked. If it only took one penalty or one turnover by your team to get you beat by Colo-fucking-rado, then your team was in deep shit before that. It means Colorado was in a position to beat you, which they should not have been. You can't say you beat them in the stat column because you didn't. 405 vs 395 total yards tells me that this was a pretty even game. Stats are oh-so-precious to the Uggers. Oh, BTW - Colorado also missed a FG.

And to hear the Uggers talk about whoulda, coulda, shouldas with Arkansas is hilarious. Arkansas had the Dawgs blown out on their own field and LET them back into that game. And in the end, knowing what Arkansas was going to try to do on the final drive,  Mallet and Petrino still made your DC look like a bozo. Congrats Dawgs - we know you would have won if not for that one ___________ (insert any pathetic excuse here).

Your coach has lost this team - admit it. There has been a downward spiral since your 'great' coach decided to get all ghetto and call for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on purpose against Fla a couple of years ago. He instilled a bad culture into that team. It is still there. You suck. Just take your medicine and say it in unison......"we suck".

Further proof that the state of Ga is in denail that they indeed suck is the AJC and their Bulldog Knob licking selves. Mainly, Mark Bradley.  ==> http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/2010/09/30/5-reasons-the-georgia-bulldogs-are-better-off-than-you-think/?cxntfid=blogs_mark_bradley_blog

Here is another article just full of excuses....
http://www.ajc.com/sports/uga/uga-football-what-we-656741.html

Bottom line is: Richt has recruited enough talent at UGA the last 8-9 years to stockpile an NFL roster (literally). UGA was the only team the last 9 years (until this last year) to be in the top 10 in recruiting EVERY YEAR. Not even Texas did that. His Dawgs have not even sniffed the NC Hunt. Cry all you want about 2007 and "getting left out" but your loss to Tennessee that year bit you in the ass. If you can't even beat every team in your division and make it to the Conf Title Game, how do you reason it so that you should be included the BCSCG? Laughable. At least Oklahoma MADE it to the Big 12 Title Game in 2003 (even though they lost to KState) when they made it to the BCSCG. The UGA 2007 team was not THAT good and was not NC material.  And to be too proud to even recognize this downward trend and the "big picture" as a fan base reeks of stupidity.

So, keep thinking you are losing games because AJ Green is out, or that damn ref screwed you, or Caleb King turned the ball over, or your kicker missed a FG. Keep thinking all those things. So that way when you win 4-5 games this year, you can look back and point to an unprecedented string of "bad luck" against you in each and every game and feel good about yourselves, while the rest of the SEC laughs.

With all of that said......they will probably beat us.

It is glorious IMO.
10-15 years ago UGA fans were some of the nicest people you ever wanted to be around.

That has changed.  They are some of the rudest, most foul mouthed, non class having motherfuckers in the SEC.

They are getting exactly what they deserve!

Oh and this ^^^^^^ times 100.

I never used to have a problem with UGA always considered our rivalry a friendly one with them.  That has changed since Richt has been there.  Last UGA game we won in Auburn walking downtown after the game we see a UGA guy... my friend says hey, y'all played a great game....UGA response "Fuck You"  stay classy Athens!

But its not their fault - it was that one bad call. The refs have it out for them. They swear it.

IMHO - if anyone watched ANY Ga team play between the years of 2001-2006, they will know that this is simply a case of karma coming around as those Ga teams (2001-2006) were some of the luckiest sons of bitches I have ever seen. The 4 fade route attempts to the end zone against us - Green to Johnson - comes to mind. Or the fact that they needed SC and Clemson to implode every year to beat them with some freak play (like David Pollack snatching the ball from a QB in the endzone). Yeah, this is pure Karma coming at the Dawgs like a bitch.

Useless fact but funny: Of the historical 6 upper echelon SEC Teams - Bama, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, LSU. Georgia is the only one the last 30 years (since 1981) not to have a NC or undefeated season of some sort. I'm not trying to leave Arky out here, its just that they have only been with us since 1992/93 so it wouldn't be a fair analysis to them. Thats right, the Dawgs just have not been able to seal the deal.

LSU - 2 NCs
Bama - 2 NCs, 2 undefeated seasons
Florida - 3 NCs, 1 undefeated season
Auburn - 2 undefeated seasons, jury will always be out/what might have been on a NC in 83, 93 and 2004
Tennessee - 1 NCs, 1 undefeated season
Georgia - The Atlanta Braves of the SEC without the World Series Title in 1995.

I believe Finebaums stance on Georgia fans was cemented when he got a nice beer shower outside the stadium as Dawg fans filed out of the UA/UGA game.

He is actually right about them. I think he really hates them. Unlike with us, who I think he just tries to poke a stick at.

I think part of the problem with UGA fans is reality just hasn't quite set in yet. They are used to being a proud perennial powerhouse in the East. Going from 10-3 in '08 to what we see now is a hard pill to swallow. It's mind boggling to us on the outside looking at their talent; imagine what it feels like to them knowing what's on the roster. What's scary here is I don't think this is just a hiccup or rebuilding phase. The slide started last year, and it's just a flat out nose dive at this point.

I know everybody thinks that Richt is out after this season, but his buyout will be around $6-8 million. He got a new contract after '07 and it wasn't a bad deal for him at all. The contract runs through the 2013 season. I think the UGA fanbase would demand a proven rock-star head coach after Richt, but I don't see them laying out that type of cash for his buyout, and laying down $4 million for a new coach, and probably new coordinators that would be making more money than the old guard.

I think Bobo will be the next sacrificial lamb at UGA after the season is over. Richt will still probably be gone sometime before his contract is up, but I just don't see it happening after the end of this season, unless something very strange on the "coaching market" happens.

He's staying. Unless he isn't.

They were actually pretty bad in the 80's up until about 97/98. I was at Auburn in the mid 90's and they were just horrible every time they visited. Literally saw some of their fans pissing on our landmarks and street signs barking. They weren't even trying to hide it. They calmed down a lot in the subsequent years after Tubs arrived but like you said, they are back to form again.

My prediction:
I think Richt out...Kerby Smart new UGA head coach

I will add I think the only thing that would save Richt's job at this point would be wins over us and Florida and I think he would have to win at least Tenn and Kentucky as well.

Muschamp? Mack's contract end is 5 years away at Texas. Will he be wanting to wait that long or would he jump on the Ga job? I personally think Kirby is a better DC and HC material. I just don't care for WM's sideline antics.

Uggers are already floating out Gruden as well. But with what RWS said above and the buyout, not sure they will want to afford that and a salary Gruden would command.

I'll echo the sentiments of those saying UGA fans have done some serious backslidin'.  I had numerous great tailgates over the years with Dawg fans and collectively, they seemed to be a pretty cool group of fans.  If you recall the changes to the face of JHS on the pressbax side with all the open gates now and how it used to be where you came up Donahue and made a right turn around the railing and walked up a ramp before entering the stadium.  The last year it was like that  (What 4-5 years ago?) it was just crowded as hell trying to turn that corner around the railing to get in.  UGA was in town and there was one guy leaning over that rail above the crowd and cussing AU fans.  Anyone who could break their arms free were taking swings at the guy while he was trying to bitch slap AU folks from above.

It was right along the same lines as the way many of their fans were acting that day.

Muschamp gets like a $3 million dollar bonus if he is not head coach by 2013. And things ain't looking so great over in Austin, either. Just sayin.

I think Smart would be a fan favorite as a head coach target, but again, I think the administration will want to go with somebody proven. If asked, I'm sure Smart would go. The only thing(s) that might come into play with that is how many years down the road is that, how many years does Saban have left at that point, and would Alabama offer Smart a head coach in waiting position?

As a brand new head coach, where do you want to make your debut? A place stocked with NFL talent, perennial contender, and things setup the way you like it already? Or somewhere you are going to have to totally rebuild from the ground up? It all comes down to the timing, imo.

With a 4-5 loss season for Texas this year, Mack might be closer to letting Will take over.
