This testimony just shows me yet again what a bunch of phuking, sap-headed moon bats that we have running Congress these days.  It's nice to see that they too appreciate the 'news' and insight from the hard-hitting, serious-minded journalism of Stephen Colbert along with Comedy Central which is well-known for being a journalistic paragon.  And it's great to see that they have such profound respect for the seriousness of the tasks at hand that they have time for this foolishness.

At least one Democrat had the good sense to try and run Colbert's silly ass out of the Committee meeting.

Idiots.

Excerpt from FoxNews.com (Gasp!  Oh my god!  You're actually quoting from FoxNews!?), all emphasis is my own:

Colbert Offers Comedy Shtick in Farm Workers Testimony, Fails to Amuse Lawmakers

Published September 24, 2010 | FoxNews.com

Stephen Colbert's satirical routine as a conservative commentator on "The Colbert Report" leaves millions of his fans laughing every night, but the comedian failed to amuse lawmakers Friday during a House panel hearing on farm jobs and illegal immigrants.

The Comedy Central star stayed in character during testimony as he made light of his experience working for one day as a migrant laborer on a vegetable farm in New York.

"America's farms are presently far too dependent on immigrant labor to pick our fruits and vegetables," Colbert said. "Now the obvious answer is for all of us to stop eating fruits and vegetables, and if you look at the recent obesity statistics, you'll see that many Americans have already started."

While some audience members laughed, most of the members of the House Judiciary subcommittee barely cracked a smile.

"This is America," Colbert continued. "I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican. I want it picked by an American, then sliced by a Guatemalan and served by a Venezuelan in a spa where a Chilean gives me a Brazilian."
...
At the beginning of the hearing, Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., chairman of the Judiciary Committee, tried to pull the plug on Colbert's testimony in an effort "to get to the bottom" of the issue.

Well, at this rate he'll end up with a journalism program on HBO in the time slot after the eminently unfunny Bill Maher.

Or, better yet, he could work on CNN with Joy Behar!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Facepalming at Congress...ok.

Facepalming at him for playing them like a fiddle, when that's his shtick...

I facepalm your facepalm.

As he pointed out, in 2002, the Republicans invited Elmo testify for music education.

I'm not old and I get satire, but you don't address Congress and crack jokes.  It reeks of being immature and unprofessional.  You may want to say those things, but you don't.

You honestly think this was appropriate to say to Congress?

What bothers me the most is the fact that he was invited to speak and give testimony anyways.  Who's next?  Rodney Carrington, Dave Chappell, Carrot Top?  I think Carrot Top speaking to Congress on steroids would be great.....I am glad that a TV personality's opinion matter so much more than someone who has been directly affected by an issue.

Satire?  Hmm.  And here I was thinking that his 'humor' was slapstick.  Thanks for taking valuable time out from watching The View, Oprah, Joy Behar, Rachel Maddow, and Comedy Central to clear that up for me.

I just don't know how on earth I'd get along without your enlightenment in the Xosphere.

Far be it from me to alienate you by criticizing one of your favorite "Commentators".  I'm sorry to have hurt your feelings.

I think you'll note that topic heading aside my criticism was directed primarily at the Congressional Leadership for allowing this lunacy to go on; perhaps if the X had been around in 2002 I'd have been just as critical on the board then of the Republipukes for doing the same thing with Elmo; but, for the record...it was just as silly.  They're all a bunch of clowns for demeaning the seriousness of their duty and office by pulling these stunts.

And as for Colbert, he should have been gentleman enough to turn down this type of ridiculous request from the Congressional moon bats...but, then again, he's a moon bat himself...and so is John Stewart.  (Oops, did I just insult another one of your Fav commentators?  Golly gee...guess I just don't 'get' his shtick either...)

Facepalm back atcha buddy.
