Auburn's Nick Fairley is SEC defensive player of weekPublished: Monday, September 13, 2010, 10:40 AM Charles Goldberg -- The Birmingham NewsFairley was named the league defensive player of the week after helping spark the Tigers to a 17-14 win over Mississippi State. Fairley had the best game of his career which included an interception that Auburn followed up with a touchdown, a fumble recovery that led to a field goal, 1 ½ sacks and five tackles, including 2 ½ for a loss.Defensive coordinator Ted Roof said Sunday night that Fairley is improving."It's a combination of Nick buying into what we're doing and experiencing some success, and also the work Tracy Rocker's done with him,'' Roof said. "I think Coach Rocker's done a wonderful job with him in his development. He has not arrived. There's a lot of room for growth. But that's a major step in the right direction. Now we'l see if he can take the next step."Fairley is the first Tiger since Karibi Dede in 2005 to record a fumble recovery and an interception in an SEC game.
I can def see Dyer doing so.
BTW - Dyer and Cam COULD have a good night this Saturday seeing as how Clemson gave up 21 to.....Presbyterian. Hope springs eternal that the Clemson D from Sat night shows up to JHS.
Fairley was incredible. I actually predicted the DPOW to the corndog Thursday night after the game. But he is used to me being right all the time...
