So what's with the question of my "honesty" got to do with an impasse. You are the attorney. Explain why someone disagreeing with another somehow summons honesty into the conversation when we are discussing a FG attempt?

Honest with yourself.  I think you feel painted in to a corner, and refuse to look at what you're saying, and instead are just going to stand by it no matter what rather than change your stance.  But it is your opinion, and you're entitled to it.

I don't need to change my stance because I think my stance is fairly solid. What I will do is move on to something else because the object of the argument has changed into the subject in a manner of speaking.

I do this for personal enjoyment and to wind down, not intending necessarily to cause anything more than a discussion. At times I might choose to defend or attack from either viewpoint and do not really have to feel strongly about the subject one way or the other. I purposely steer clear of many subjects and I sometimes weigh that subject before I offer an opinion because others might take me wrong. You see when you used the word "honest" I was aware that you were using it figuratively much like a grandmother appealing to a stubborn kid. Then it escalated from another to "you're stupid", which is straight from the playground.

I've been a sidewalk Auburn fan for forty years. And I have a somewhat different perspective on Auburn football than what we see now. I might be critical in a reflective sense but it doesn't change how I feel about Auburn. I want my team to perform well in the lead role on the big stage, not just audition for a small part. Hey I was happy with the 3-2 win over State where other Auburn fans couldn't be. But we have a much better opportunity this year and I wanted the team to hit the gate running. Maybe my expectations are too high, but then I always try to be positive about the team's chances all while remaining objectively critical.

Instead of paying these coaches all this money, I think we out to fire them, and simply put a bank of computers on the sideline and let the fans coach em.  Just hook them up to the innerwebs and have them sign in to TigersX and do what folks posting tell them to do.  No game plan, nothing...just like they're our own personal video game.

My sentiments exactly.

Jmar, you and aren't arguing....I'm pointing out the facts that you're a Ra-Tard and that you should never question anything Coach Malzahn does, mainly because you aren't a coach.

Also, I've never said anything about pumping sunshine or not.  There's no sunshine pumping when you stick to the facts.

Hey I'm on the "Gus bus" but you seem certain HE made the call by your response, again with the childish name calling, which seems to be your calling card.

When I'm not an armchair QB, I drive a truck. When former head coach Dr. Lou isn't providing comments, doing commercials or giving motivational speeches,  he is an armchair QB. That's what fans of sports DO.

Some people like video games or fantasy teams just like you enjoy keeping up with recruiting and applying arbitrary "grille" ratings and I happen to appreciate your service as the recruiting info guy.

There are no experts here, just opinions.        But I will question as I please like it or not.

Question away!  Having the right to question...doesn't mean the right to have your opinions floated out there without question.

I just watched the replay on CSS.  The announcers (Rece Davis and Jesse Palmer) never once even suggested Auburn should go for it.  The moment Cam lost that 3 yards on 3rd down Davis said "Chizik will certainly send out the FG unit".  After the fact neither of them even hinted at suggesting Auburn should have considered going for it.

I've run this question by coaches in the last few hours in the form of: If this were the situation (2:25 left, 4 and 3 on the opponents 20, up 17-14..  They, all offered what they would do. A small minority said they'd go for it because that's just the way they coach and play the game.  The vast majority said that they'd want to know other details like about the opponent's kicker, the general tenor of the game...how it had come to be that...and they almost all said they'd probably kick but might go for it depending on other unknown factors, but almost all said, it wasn't really clear cut, and that neither would be wrong at the time, but of course, like all such decisions, and knowledge of the outcome, open to criticism should the decision go badly.  None of them even remotely suggested that it was a certain "go for it" situation except for the fact that THEY do it that way anyway.  Even they said "other's would probably kick the FG".

You said you were going to leave this alone, but didn't.  Bottom line...you may have wanted Auburn to go for it, but it's nowhere near the monumental, Les Miles-ish type blunder that you're making it out to be.  Not even fucking close to a blunder, not in the same ball park.  Have your opinions, voice them...be ready for replies.

Oh, and I suspect, that since Chiz is the HC, that he decided to kick it...I suspect that he really didn't entertain the thought of going for it for very long.  HE made the decision, as that's what HC's do on gameday.

Jmar, it's also a Cardinal SIN to question the HC...Especially an offensive mastermind in Coach Chizik.  Say three Hail Marys and bang your head on a sturdy table four times.

Okay guys I do like the mastermind in the Chiz.  I will leave it alone only I didn't say I would  prior to JR's comment but nevertheless if you feel strongly enough to investigate the matter, there must have been an inkling of doubt in your mind. I've got to go to work (my hole Prowler) and will be back the weekend hopefully to see us hit on all cylinders. Can Musburger sing our praises? Who's working the game?

I tried to find the replay earlier and settled on the Raider- Titan game. Looks like Campbell is gonna get pounded this season. Marks is on DL for Titans, Groves a LB for Raiders.

The "mistake" was the play before.  2 downs to make 1 1/2 yards and the game is virtually over.  A 215 pound Rudi/Emmit clone...a 6'6" 250 pound QB....a 240 pound fullback...and the choice is play action. Bang, 3 yard loss.

And that's why you want to something the defense isn't expecting...you've got one of 10 options to catch the D offguard.  Pooch Punt on 3rd down, Field Goal on 3rd down, take a knee, Playaction Pass, Fleaflicker, Reverse, Reverse Pass, Double Reverse, Double Reverse Pass and the Oopty-Oop.

DAMN IT COACH MALZAHN!!!!  WHY DID WE NOT DO THE OOPTY-OOP....GAH!!!!!!!!!

You guys are out thinking yourselves.  ONE yard to go.  TWO downs to make ONE stinking yard.  The game is OVER.  You have a 6'6" 250 lb. QB, a 240 pound fullback and a 215 lb. bowling ball running back and a group of seniors on your interior line.  Yes indeed, first down play on one.  Instead, our D has to hang on for dear life and got extremely lucky because of a dropped pass.  Ram the fucking ball in there for ONE yard and the game is over.  Why is this so hard?

It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

This offense is a downhill running offense, is it not? When you have tools like that, it's hard to go with anything other than pound the rock. Somebody can say "Well, the defense will be ready for the run up the middle, because it's 3rd and short." That's what being a good team is all about.....even when the other team knows what you're going to do, you do it anyways, and it still works. If the guys on the field aren't executing the play where they can get the yardage even when the defense knows what's going to happen, then that's a problem somewhere else. This is why some teams are better than other teams. Becuase they have better players, better ability, etc.

Have to agree with Snaggle.....you need 1 yard, you have some big corn fed fuckers at your disposal, your offense is geared towards the run, senior OL.....pound it in.
