I accept a certain degree of responsibility for this mess - I forgot to shave my legs today (shaved them yesterday) but I ran and did it between the third and fourth Qs.  My bad.

Oh, and also - Pell City made some stupid fucking comment about "one more touchdown and we win" and he pissed off the FKG... so it is his fault too.

Cam Newton wears Mike Dyer underoos.

Mike Dyer wears Nick Fairley underoos.

Nick Fairly don't need no muthafuckin underoos.

War Damn Eagle - but my stomach is one big churning pit of acid.

Fuck.

Wow.  That game didn't play out at all like I thought it would.  Hard to believe Auburn was held scoreless in the second half.  I still saw a lot on offense that I didn't really understand.  Did they keep Cam from going deep by design?  I know he had an interception early, but is the deep ball a problem for him?

Also, I would give 80% of the carries to Dyer for the rest of the year.  And I still say, after watching every snap of the game, that Auburn's defense is as vanilla as it gets.  No one in the back 7 brings any pressure at all.  If Auburn's front 4 doesn't get a decent push, the qb will have all day to pass.  With that said, Fairly is a beast.

Me too.

And I disagree. Auburn came with some pretty good blitzes in this game. I am good with the defense...especially the front 4. Fairley played out of his mind.

I am really surprised Auburn didn't score in the second half...we almost looked like we went into a Tubs "no lose" philosophy.

Dyer should start. No doubt.

Bynes still sucks. If any offense runs another reverse or shuffle pass against Bynes and Freeman it's their own god damn fault when they lose 8 yards...because those 2 will be in the middle of the field no matter what.

HB...I now agree about Thorpe. Although it was a piss poor PI call.

Ted Roof didn't call a bad game. IMHO

That was a bullshit cal. He did look back. It's hard to run with your back to the sideline like that and look back any better than Thorpe did right there.

However, Thorpe got bailed the fuck out when that dude missed the ball.

And....great fucking defensive call on the last 4th down. They had been playing a press coverage the entire series and then dropped back into a zone. It confused the shit out of the offense and they had no chance...

It was a chicken shit call.  They helped our D out at times, but I saw some decent play from the DL.  Our DBs can cover, but they're chicken shits at the line in bump and run for the most part giving free relase, and not looking back when in man.

Cam got us some crucial first downs, and the D held when it had to.  First time in a while we've been able to hold on to a game when the offense we mostly misfiring.  That's really about the only positive I can take from that.  Also saw Ziemba with a smile and no crutches after the game, so maybe that's a good sign...I never heard an update.

This just in, Dyer is good.  Hope Fannin is ok so he's not in a sling while watching the rest of the season from the bench.

The blitzes were timely and mostly effective.  Fairly is 100% better this year over last.  Our tackling was solid for the most part too.  Overall the defense is improved, but to date, not near where they need to be.

Maybe I'm dissecting the defense a little too harshly.  I just saw a shit ton of maroon jerseys wide fucking open on nearly every play, and 2 quarterbacks who couldn't find them.

And while I'm being critical, Mullen is a great coach, but he wasted an important series in the second half putting the freshman in the game.  And also, being only 10 yards from fieldgoal range, why in the hell did they go for the 15-20 yard routes 4 times?

I don't believe they would have won in overtime, but Haysoos, at least give the kicker a chance.

Yeah....Fannin needs to sit this one out....can't even wrap up a handoff.....dont know what the phuk is with his ass.

The same thing that has always been up with his ass.  He hasn't lived up to the hype at RB and I don't think he will.   Line him up and let him catch the ball, to me, he is a lot better receiver than he is a RB.  I lost a little for him last year against UGA.....but I digress.

Fairly is a beast.  Please let Dyer start toting the rock.  Please don't let Kodi throw the ball ever again.  Ever.  Where was Reed tonight or did I miss it?  D looked decent at times, not a bad game, but not a great game.  Yes, great call on the last 4th down.  If Bynes was faster, he would be hell. Pure hell.  Squirrel needs to work with Yox on coordination. Thorpe is not what he is all cracked up to be.   There was some questionable play calling imo, but hell, we won and that is all that matters.  Time to start looking at Clemson.

I saw some questionable calls.  I thought we got screwed on the PI and there was one that was obvious on Blake (I think) that was not called.  Fucking refs.  Oh, I thought we would get the touchback, someone tell me how that wound up being a TD?

Cam Newton 206 Total Yards
MSU 246 Total Yards

All y'all Roof Haters...Shut yo FACES!!!...Until next weekend, lol.

If we just had an Offense Coordinator...BTW, Auburn had over 320 Total Yards, about 400 if you take 2 of those penalties away.

Kudos to:
Nick Fairley fuckin' Man-Beast
Cam Newton for make those tough yards

Mike Dyer for being a fuckin' Stud Kat

Craig Sanders the Special Teams "Animal"

Emory Blake another Go-To WR and Special Teams Demon

Coach Roof for preserving the win, when the offense couldn't get out of their own way

GameGrill goes to....Nick Fairley 1 Int., 1 Fumble Recovery, 5+ Tackles, 1.5 Sacks, numerous hits on the QBs and scaring the fuck outta the MSU QBs even when he didn't hit 'em...MSU's QBs will be VERY VERY sore tomorrow, believe dat.

Wow I feel like I'm listening to a bunch of fucking bammers on Finebaum.  That was a shitty game.  Yes Fairly played a hell of a game.  All you Cam lovers with the T-shirts went broke tonight.  We were playing fucking MISSISSIPPI STATE, we should have beat the shit out of them.  If we play the rest of the season like this it will be a 9 and 4 season.  Defense played better, but our schemes still suck.  For a veteran seondary they sure did get beat a lot, fortunately their receivers cant catch.  I can only come up with Roof is making up for our shitty line backers by playin a soft ass secondary.  Cam was shut down in the second half and made 0 long passes.  GET REAL, Im not a tiger fan that is happy with surviving, maybe I was spoiled by the 04 season but good god, mediocrity is for the Vanderbilts and Kentuckys.

Dont fall off the ledge as I type, we will lose at least 4 games this year maybe more. We play sloppy football, turn the ball over, commit way too many penalties. I would love to think all the issues can be corrected.....but I thought the same thing last year. Enjoy the win, Clemson and USc have a lot more talent than Miss. St.

Right now Cam is a one trick pony. He has no clue how to check out of a blitz and he struggles with the intermediate ball. MSU backed up the secondary to keep the long ball from happening, but we did not hit enough across the middle. When Cam scrambles, he does not see the field well. Hopefully he will get better at this, because he is a beast on the ground. Hopefully MSU being a step up in talent was enough to get good experience on.

If Clemson can throw the ball, we are dead. Thorpe did not show up this season. Or maybe it takes him 8 games to get game ready. Bell has no ass. What does he weigh, a buck 50? And every DB was getting blocked by EVERY WR that MSU had. Hell at one time I even saw Bates dancing with a WR. If you can't get off the WR blocks, you will get eaten alive on the bubble screens. Defense will get bitch-slapped soon if they play like they did tonight. The defensive line is the only thing that kept us in it. Along with absolutely crappy passes and catching by MSU.

Mike Dyer is the real deal. Fannin should not be allowed to run the ball again. He has no vision. He had a hole over the right side, but since a Mack truck couldn't fit, he decided to break it out and lose 4 yds. This offense was not designed to have big holes. Dyer understands that, Fannin does not. I like OM's effort, but like Bell, he has no ass.

I can see why UF thought Cam would take over for Tebow, he is a faster stronger version on the ground. If his decision making skills and intermediate passing improve, I can see a great offensive year. We can only ride his legs for so long.

This was a good SEC win. Ugly, but good. The coaches have plenty to fix this long week. I'm glad we played tonight.

--I hope Cam Newton is one durable bastard. He took some pretty good shots tonight.

--If AU plays a team with some WRs that can actually catch the ball, you guys are fucked.

--I think the cat is out of the bag; Cam Newton is going to run the ball. Not at all impressed with his passing skills. Looks like his throws just kind of hang in the air, and they're not horribly accurate either.

--Game ball for AU goes to the DL, and to MSU's WRs. DL seemed to be in the MSU backfield all night long.

--McCalebb and Fannin need to ride the pine. Let Dyer carry. I saw a few times where McCalebb just tucks and rolls when he sees a defender coming. I know some had mentioned this before, but I never thought it was so obvious until now. I remember one play there was a defender like 7 yards away and McCalebb simply dove to the ground. The DB didn't even have to touch him. Fannin is well, Fannin. Like I said in pre-season when a few here were predicting this would be his breakout year: When are you guys just going to break down and admit the guy just isn't that good?

--Looked like AU used a rotation of like 10 plays all through the 1st half. Same plays over and over. I thought that was a little weird.

--What's up with the huge cushion MSU WRs were being given by AU DBs to start the second half?

--Chad Bumphis is going to do big things at MSU, relative to them being MSU.

--Outside of Bumphis, for the most part, I think the MSU WR corps needs some work on the jugs machine this week. When they go over the film from this game, they are going to kick the shit out of themselves. If their receivers could actually catch, they win this game.

I feel like I have a bad hangover from this game. I'm not sure what to think honestly. I do think the D played a lot better but like already mentioned 100 times, the DB's still playing too soft. On the bright side, Fairley could have played all by himself and stopped MSU, he was lights out fo sho. Something just didn't look right with the offense. Newton got us out of a jam several times but besides a couple passes, one being an absolute freakin laser, he looked off his game especially in the second half. I am all for Fannin being moved to WR right next to Burns, he just looks like he is constantly second guessing himself. Dyer should be the starter with McCaleb and "Sugar Bear" coming him for relief. Both the OL and DL looked pretty good I though. I don't think Zeimba will be out for long but I will say Mosely is fully capable; he played great. We have no issues at WR either, Zachary and Blake along with Adams all are very capable at any given time to break for the big one.

I am going to be honest though, we probably should have lost that game, or it should have only been a 1 point win either way. Both teams left 10 to 14 points on the field.

Everyone needs to come down from the ledge....it was a WIN. An SEC win on the road against a decent team in a hostile environment. MSU was very motivated and played like it. They were tough and played determined, but they ran out of gas and are short on talent. MSU will win some ball games this year because of their D alone. We gave up 250 total yards on D. 250!!!! Against a team that put up over 600 the week before, even if they did play the Memphis School for the Blind.

Add in the fact that they were given a TD - TWICE via a muffed punt and MSU recovering their own fumble at the goal line AND the onside kick, I think we came out pretty good.

We have tons of things to work on. Dyer is a stud. Fannin needs to take a seat on the bench. McCalebb at this point simply needs to be a change of pace back. That was a great front 7 we played against.  Ziemba was missed in the 2nd half. He will be a high NFL Draft Pick and you don't really get BETTER losing an NFL caliber lineman in the 1st quarter. Stevens is being missed more than most realize, because of the aforementioned comments on Bynes and Freeman (slow and out of position constantly).

Not making excuses and most know I don't drink Chizik kool aid, but all of these conditions combined with the short week had the makings of a sloppy game. Kudos to Roof for getting his shit together even though he is handicapped by the perpetual slowness of Bynes and low FB IQ of Freeman.
