Proper etiqutte for visiting rival SEC stadiums
« on: August 25, 2010, 04:08:59 PM »
I live in Columbia and I have been offered free tickets to the USCe/Southern Miss game next week. What are your
thoughts on gameday attire. Would wearing my Auburn hat be in bad taste? I'm not sure about the demeanor
of the cock-lovers over here.

IMO, unless you have a dog in the hunt (i.e., me wearing LSU threads in Baton Rouge when they played bammer) then I say go neutral.  Maybe a subtle Auburn hat, but not some screaming neon orange lid.  It's just a matter of class and being polite in someone else's house.

The cock lovers are funny tho - they get all hyped up over going to the game, but for them, it is just all about the party.  They really don't give a damn about who actually wins the football game as long as they all got drunk.  My two cousins and their husbands are all cock alums, and they really get all geared up in the red and black, but they couldn't tell you who their starting running back is, have never even heard about Lattimore, kind of knew that Spurrier coached "somewhere else" and could give less than a flip about the final score.

Weird.

Never been to USCe and I definitely despise teh cock.  I have always heard it's a pretty rabid fanbase that loves to talk major shitake despite having absolutely zero history and/or tradishun.  But that's all I've heard. Others may have a different take.  However, I don't care if you've got an audience with the Pope....AU attire is always proper ettyket.

This will be my first trip to Williams-Bryce stadium. I have to say the cock lovers are mighty proud of their team. How the
hell they can support a mediocre-to-bad team every year is beyond me. Nobody finds more ways to lose football games
than USCe.

I will probably follow TW's advice and go neutral to avoid having bags of chicken shit/urine tossed at me...

Wear whatever you want, as long as you are not an ass and represent AU with class and dignity you will have no problems.  I see people in our stadium all the time with 3rd party hats on.

I go to Columbia a lot for work (I'll be there tomorrow for example).  Live in Greenville, and my experience with the Cocks Fans has been pretty good thus far.  I remember the day after they won the Baseball NC, I went to dinner at an Outback there.  While I was eating, one of the servers came out wearing some ridiculous looking rooster (like a plush toy) on his head.   I looked at the bartender and just commented that, "Columbia, SC is probably the only place in the country you can walk into an Outback, sit down to eat and be totally cool with some dude walking around with a huge cock on his head."  He got a kick out of it.  Gave me a War Eagle when I walked out the door and everything.

Agree with the rest here, I'd still go neutral or very subtle.

This.  Hell, I was in Auburn Saturday and right in the middle of campus was a car with a big Mullet A on it and Bama flags flying. I told myself that as long as the owner didn't say anything, I would supress the urge to kick his ass and/or spray paint his car.  Turns out the owner wasn't around so I did the classy thing and walked away.....

BTDub....anyone need a carburator off a 74' Chevelle?

Have you ever checked out Greene's Beverage Warehouse? There are 2 in Columbia and I think there is one in Greenville.
That place has a fine selection of teh bourbons,wines,high-gravity beers, etc.  The prices are very low also when you make
your purchase with cash. It's easy to get carried away in that place. It gives me the same feeling that I used to get when
I walked into Toys R Us as a youngin'

I went to Williams-Brice in 2005 and was treated really well. We had a great time up there, except for the shitty hotel room we stayed at with 5 other people. This place made the Golden Cherry look like a Ritz. I still don't think I've gotten completely clean.

We did one into one asshole after the game, but that's going to happen when you are around 70,000 people.

NO - cocks just like a good natured party, win or lose.  Kind of a higher class of corndogs.

T-sips are dicks.

Funny....Ive heard the T Sip games are as quite as a pin drop, not even aware of the score. Any opportunity to take a jab at them and I do it.

I gots nothing against the cocks...and neither does AWK.

Useless fact: USCe is the only program in the SEC with an All Time losing record.
