Zach Lee was Da Man... unless he isn't.  And what is so funny is that this is an LSU website/media outlet reporting this stuff.  Methinks Miles may have some media relations issues.

Quote
BATON ROUGE β€”β€”On Saturday when quarterback Zach Lee was still at LSU and considering staying, LSU coach Les Miles had this to say:

"He really can throw it. He's very bright. He has great moxie. He's going to know what to do. He understands really the position pretty well. He'd be a guy certainly that will compete to play snaps this fall. He's going to compete. It's very difficult to call his role when it's an expanding one with that person that competes best β€” whether it's Jordan Jefferson or Jarrett Lee or Zach Lee. He knows what to do. He comes onto the field with that. He gets the ball where it's supposed to be. He's a team guy, understands what he needs to do. He's got a quarterback mentality. It's very difficult for me to predict where he might end up. He came right in, is picking it up, is very bright and is one of those men who really expects himself to learn it and compete to learn it. He's in it (the mix). He's been in it."

On Media Day last week, Miles said this about Lee:

"Zach Lee is much further along in his approach and how he learns than really a number of quarterbacks I have been around. He has a natural framework for understanding the passing game, where his reads should be and where he should go with the ball."

But on Tuesday, the morning after Lee agreed to sign a $5.25 million bonus as a pitcher and 28th pick of the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miles sang a different tune:
"The issue is you'd have liked to have him progressing, but he's not going to get any reps anyway. So he's really not going to be prepared unless injury takes place. These other two guys (walk-on quarterbacks Barrett Bailey and TC McCartney) would be just as capable as that."

When asked if Lee would have basically been slated for "mop-up" duty behind Jefferson and Lee, who both have struggled at the position the last two years, Miles agreed.

"Yeah, it was going to be the back end of the game," he said.

News Flash:  Les Miles is an idiot - and in other news, water is wet and RWS loves Saban's cock.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT I: "This opportunity was just too difficult to pass up."

--- LSU football coach Les Miles as told to the LSU sports information office minutes after Zach Lee became a Dodger late Monday night. Sports information offices tend to clean up coaches' and players' comments and make them sound better. In reality, the $5.25 million opportunity may have left Lee with a difficult decision to make. It was not a "difficult" opportunity.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT II: "I always dread when opportunities come, because they're so difficult. If we'd just get rid of all opportunities, life wouldn't be as difficult as it is."

--- A sportswriter from another publication minutes after Miles' comments circulated.

CORRECTION: Quarterback Jarrett Lee did not throw the interception to cornerback Patrick Peterson, who returned it for a touchdown in Saturday's scrimmage in Tiger Stadium. It was quarterback Jordan Jefferson, according to two eyewitnesses at the scrimmage that was closed to the media and most of the public.  A member of the media said Saturday that his contact saw Lee throw the interception, but that contact later found out he was mistaken.
Just funny how everyone accepted the original explanation without question...

BTW, Coach Miles took the "It will, unless it doesn't" to a entirely new level.  Coach Miles ran 10 miles just to get 10 yards.  Not only did he perfect the "Texas Two-Step", but he ended up throwing Lee under the bus.  Absolutely HILARIOUS!!!

What kills me is that the SIO LET THAT QUOTE GO OUT.

So one of two things:

(1) the corndog fuckers in the LSU SIO are just as retarded as Miles and did not realize he made an error.

OR

(2) they went ahead because it's funnier if their coach is a fucking idiot.

I doubt they live in fear of Miles like the bammer SIO probably does of Saban or Florida's SIO of Meyer.  That would definitely be a catch 22.  Do you choose not to tell your coach he is an idiot and correct the statement anyway and then get busted for changing the quote from the coach?  Or do you tell him he is an idiot and explain why he is an idiot and then make sure he wants to look like an idiot before you release the statement and then get busted because you told coach he is an idiot?  Or do you not tell anyone anything and let the idiot statement hit the press and then get busted for letting coach look like an idiot?  No matter what you choose, you are fucked.

But as for LSU, I am thinking choice (2).  Miles is the funniest part of CFB.

$5.25 million? Who cares what the big idiot says. For $5.25 million, he can say I tried to sleep with the mascot.

Les is an idiot. If a guy signs to play professional sports and leaves your team, he must have been a helluva athlete and should be lauded as such. A simple, "We'll miss him" would have sufficed.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
