Tennessee Titans Coach Jeff Fisher rips Lane Kiffin for not calling before hireTennessee Titans assistant Kennedy Pola departs for Southern Cal jobBy Jim Wyatt • THE TENNESSEAN • July 25, 2010 The Titans lost their running backs coach Saturday, and Coach Jeff Fisher isn't happy with Lane Kiffin about it.Fisher said Kiffin, the former Tennessee Vols coach who left for the same job at Southern Cal, never contacted him as Kiffin tried to persuade Kennedy Pola to join his coaching staff. On Saturday morning, Pola accepted a position as offensive coordinator at USC, leaving the Titans without a running backs coach a week before training camp."I am very disappointed in Lane Kiffin's approach to this,'' Fisher said. "Typically speaking, when coaches are interested in hiring or discussing potential employment from coaches on respective staffs, there is a courtesy call made from the head coach or athletic director indicating there is an interest in talking to the assistant."So I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism on behalf of Lane, to call me and leave me a voicemail after Kennedy had informed me he had taken the job. It is just a lack of professionalism.''
Tennessee Titans sue Lane Kiffin, Southern CalBy Jim Wyatt • THE TENNESSEAN • July 26, 2010 The Titans on Monday filed a lawsuit against the University of Southern Cal and head coach Lane Kiffin for “maliciously” interfering with the contract of running backs coach Kennedy Pola. The lawsuit was filed in Davidson County Chancery Court and it claims Pola breached his contract with the Titans after being induced by Kiffin. Pola, hired by the Titans in January, was hired by USC over the weekend as the school’s new offensive coordinator. The lawsuit states “as a result of USC and Kiffin’s tortuous conduct, Tennessee (Titans) football has been damaged in an amount proven at trial.’’Titans officials declined comment on Monday. USC officials could not be reached for comment.
AT THIS POINT YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY BE SURPRISED. Lane Kiffin and USC are being sued by the Tennessee Titans, but you already knew that, or at least some part of you in your bones saw this, realized it was inevitable, and then nodded as you heard the gears of the universe click in place. Kiffin will be defended by himself in court, where he will end up in contempt of court within three words of opening his mouth, and then will be beaten in a holding cell when he pisses off his cellmates in the first five minutes of his stay. He will then be released on bond and fall dick-first into a gutter filled with money and beautiful women, because this is what seems to happen to Lane Kiffin.
