I also can't help but think I would be more organized.  I know everything has been scavenged, but there still have to be resources left untapped.  Get another bus, drain a fuel tank at a gas station, and hit the road.  I remember in The Stand, they drove a wrecker and used it to clear a path down the road for the rest of their convoy. Granted, they weren't dealing with monsters trying to eat them, but with enough of a group  like this bunch has, keeping the herd off you while you move cars cant be that hard.  They are all soft and putrid by now - the firehose scene showed how mushy they really are.  Aside from a fire truck, I still believe Michonne and that bad ass long sword are the way to go.  Never run out of ammo.  Sucks to have to slash and burn your way around every time you go outside, but still... but at this point, they should be used to it.

And why haven't they gone to a museum and gotten a suit of armor?  I'd be a chainmail wearing motherfudgeer.

See - that's outside the box thinking.  Lots of swords and axes and stuff in there too.

Re: The Walking Dead
Like I said in my other post - how do you survive a winter in that damp, dark, cold prison?  No way to heat a small enough space to keep everyone - plus a baby! - warm.

I wouldn't go as far as ND, but I would move further north than GA.  Missouri looks pretty cold and snowy right now too but not Fargo level cold.

See I'm thinking about making my way to Savannah.  Grab a boat.  Head to the Caribbean.  A small, isolated Island with potential to grow crops.

Re: The Walking Dead
As for the actual episode -

I thought the Carol back story was pointless.  We already knew just about everything that happened while Carol was gone from the prison except for her holing up in some lawyer's office before the governor attacked.  And who gives a shoot where she went during that time if all she did was sleep?

And again, this show thinks it's more important than it is.  Did not need the waxing philosophy from Darryl and Carol about changing or whatever bullshoot they were talking about.  Could have easily used those 15 minutes to have another suspenseful action scene in the city.  Neither would be essential to the plot but one at least is exciting and not just two characters talking.

On that note, the whole philosophical, psychological dilemma they were working out ruined the scene with the black kid.  Carol should have shot him.  But if she wasn't going to shoot him, it shouldn't be because they were trying to become better people.  fudge that.  They won't seem like better people when they bust Beth out of the hospital.  But if the black kid made a comment like - "Sorry, I need these weapons to help rescue a friend," then Darryl could say, "No, Carol.  Don't shoot the kid.  He may have information on the people with the crosses on the cars."

Instead it was, "No, Carol.  We're moral now.  Don't shoot the kid.  Let's lose our kickass weapons that we may never find again."

The mid season finale wasn't bad, although, I was thinking Rick and Daryl were about to empty out of the remaining hospital crew.

I've liked this season so far, but the show last night licked balls.

Why have the buildup to the handcuffed guy running away last week if all that was going to happen was him getting run down in the street in the first three minutes of the show?  I realize it was designed to showcase how close to the edge Rick really is right now, but it seemed a waste.

Other things that were a waste:

Tyrese's big confession.  It took six or seven minutes and his sister essentially blew it off.  Why bother with that whole thing if it was going nowhere.

Beth.  Give her a little bit to do and then murder her.  The whole stabbing of Dawn thing was contrived.  No way Beth takes the chance to start a bloodbath that gets everybody killed.  The girl playing her wasn't a strong actress and (while hot) didn't add much to the show.

The Beth reaction.  She disappeared early on and for all Mags knew, she had been eaten by walkers or consumed by a cannibal or fed to wild pigs.  There was never even a moment of angst on the part of Maggie.  Don't think she bothered to mention her sister at all or push for the group to go look for her.  Can't remember if she even questioned Darryl about where she was.

Dawn. As far as big bads go, she was way down the list that includes the governor, Darryl's band of thugs, Merle, Garth (or whoever) and even Shane.  If there really were rogue cops she would have just taken them out. But the show couldn't decide if she was a good guy making bad choices or a bad guy making good ones.  So that all fell flat.

Armpits.  How is it that all the girls on the show have shaved armpits?  Is there an endless supply of Venus razors out there?

I don't care if I had to pull every hair out with pliers. I'd make sure my underarms were hairless if it were the last thing I ever did.

While I can't say I haven't asked myself the same question, sometimes a little bending of reality is a good thing. I'm happy to provide suspension of disbelief in this case.  :by: :by:

Finally caught up with the show today.

Beth's death pissed me off.  fudgeing Sophia all over again.  The whole season came to a tumbling crash with the new characters having nothing to do with the continuation of the show and the whole plot of saving Beth finishing with her dead on the floor.

The best part of this season was Abe's group going to Washington.  Wrapped that up too soon though.

What concerns me most is the preview for February.  Looks like it's all about surviving in the wild vs. surviving in a civilized environment.  I guess Rick is back to Bad Rick now?  That's probably good for 7-8 scenes of him contemplating life, seeing ghosts, and having emotional discussions with Carl.

I don't know why I keep watching this show.  I think it's because I know I could do it better.

Re: The Walking Dead
I started watching this on Netflix over Thanksgiving.  I'm not one who usually gets in to zombie apocalypse story lines so this series never interested me.  After I kept hearing how awesome it was I decided to watch the pilot.  Before I blinked I was through Season 1.

I'm just over halfway through Season 2 (remember when Rick's wife flipped her car while he shot up the dudes from Philly at the bar?)  I read the first 10 pages of this thread and it was hilarious to read basically the same critiques I had about the "Lifetime" style story lines and ZOMG GET OFF THE FARM ALREADY!!!!1!! criticism.

I can't wait to fund out why Beth's death is such a big deal.  As of right now she's laying in a bed at the farm with a fever that no cowbell could help.

Seriously, quit watching after season 2.  You will hate yourself if you don't.  Every fudgeing season since, I ask myself why I keep watching.

Bullshoot.

This season has been excellent so far.  fudge Beth.  She is dead.  They did that for shock value, nothing more.  They systematically kill a character at the end of every season just to get the ratings.

The whole Rick running over the guy in the car was a direct link to the comics.

Also, I agree with THS.  They need a purpose/quest.
Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

This.

Except I actually did quit watching. Story line is awful, special effects are terrible.

Yawn.

These first two episodes make me wish they'd get back to the fudgeing farm.  It's navel gazing at its absolute worst.

I'm wishing for people to die.  fudge blubbering whiny ass Daryl at this point.  Die.  Maggie, Sasha, Michone, Red, Rick, Carl, the baby all of them.  Gone.

Leave me with the big boobed lesbian, the mexicali chick, the dude without a cure, Glen, preacher man and possibly Noah or Carol.  who knows... maybe it gets better.

This is agonizing.

I was glad to see the ponderous Tyrese go.  I'd gotten tired of his thinking on things.

I'm also sick of seeing them walk through the fudgeing woods.  Why are they in the fudgeing woods CONSTANTLY?  Why do they keep walking around anyway?  And knowing what they know about the nation's climate WHY THE fudge would you head north?  Go south where you don't have to deal with winters to the point that you freeze to death.  Go south, find a place you can get safe -- like a fudgeing island where there's water and you can catch fish -- and set up a community.  THEN try to put a radio together.  Or get a tank/SUV/something and start to see if there's anybody else out there.    And why the fudge is EVERYBODY they run into crazy as fudge?  All the normal people are dead?  All that's left are bands of cannibals or megalomaniacs?

I'm really getting tired of this show.  I also think the two half-season concept is hurting it.  I'm not in the mood for it in February.  I was in October.

Well, you're pretty normal for message board standards, but still, its been insisted on numerous occasions that you would murder in large numbers if not for the laws preventing it. Perhaps the group preferred freezing up north to the risk of brown-shirting for the Okaloosa Island anti-tomato gulag.

These are the people that interest me the least. I couldn't give a fudge about any of them...unless the mexicali chick is going to get naked.

I want to know who cut all those people/walkers in half from the last episode.
