Title: Official Pre-Signing Day Thread 2016
Post by: auburn2eugene on January 22, 2016, 06:02:29 PM
Our OT recruiting board per 247

4* EJ Price - AU / UGA battle. UGA leads but it's close.
3* Breontae Mathews - AU could offer anytime. K-State leads.
4* Landon richarderson - AU a distant 3rd behind FSU and UTk.
3* Lucas Niang - TCU leads. Auburn may turn up heat once Willie Allen commits to LSU.
4* Erik Swenson - Decommitted from Michigan and Herb Hand started following him on twitter.
3* Jawaan Taylor - Auburn is high on him but he's "rock solid" to UF

Also per Scout,  4 star DE Prince Sammons is being recruited by CHH as an OT

I got all of that from another site. I don't claim to be any sort of insider. I am the definition of a outsider, living on the left Coast. I just search for AU info, wherever it can be found.

Listen to him. He's pre med. And from Oneonta.

The circus that is Nate Craig Oscar Meyers Squibb doesn't end. From fsu lean to Au committ to Au de commit to fsu certainty to hating fsu back to Au lean. I generally just don't care for kids that do the roller coaster shindig. But I'll take him. The boy good. We need wrs. Like, ones that are fast and can catch and shoot.

1/22/16

Ahhmon Richards- Miami vs AU battle. Auburn wants to take one of him, Nate, or Nixon. First come first serve. Miami trending

Elysee Mbem-Bossee- Conflicting info. Some sources feel AU will make a push. Others feel EMB is not a real target anymore.

Erik Swenson- Not much noise w/ AU besides Hand following him on twitter. Not believed to be 1 of the top 3 OT targets

Jayvaughn Myers- Believe he and his brother will be Tigers. Jay isn't taking anymore visits as of now.

Jordan Griffin- UK commit. Says he's solid but is on an OV to AU right now.

Nigel Warrior- Temper expectations for NW, he is a UTk legacy and will be a hard pull.

Prince Sammons- believed to be 1 of the top 3 targets on the AU OT board behind Price & richarderson. AU thinks thy have a real shot here.

Stephen Davis Jr.- AU may be taking him as an LB which could close out the LB class for AU in 2016.

Note: Some believe AU is looking to take 5 more. Others still think 6-7.

Again,  not my information, just passing along info

I very much want Nate and his brother in this class,  however, he better not wait on NSD to fax his LOI, because as of right now,  it's first come first serve between Meyers, Nixon, and Richards.

Even without Nate,  his brother,  4 star CB Jay is a take

I don't think so either, after watching his film. I'll be honest, I was very worried about that. Especially since I didn't see his name mentioned until late in the process.

Really like our starting corners. You can fool Jones once but not twice. My biggest concern (coverage-wise) with the secondary is how well our new safeties interact with the corners because we a devoid of experienced linebacker depth.
That said, our secondary cannot stay healthy if it is making the majority of the tackles.

I totally agree. And that won't be changing this year.  We have 1 LB (Tre Threat) enrolled already, and I've seen word that we are possibly recruiting Steven Davis Jr as a LB. If he commits,  it will finish off the LB class for this season. And to go back to your closing point, if I'm not mistaken, Rudy Ford has lead the team in tackles, the past 2 seasons.  I just thank God we have an All-American in the making in Carlton Davis.

Davis is as good a freshman as I can recall. He came with skills.
Either back-up linebackers weren't prepared for action or they are to be considered stock because talent generally finds itself on the field to spell starters and mop-up. Recall seeing Tre' some and just a bit of Darrell. Other than that I would say we will be in full developmental mode and that isn't comforting.

EMB & Josh Uche committed to Michigan. Both are off the board,  and we probably take Steven Davis Jr as a Nickel LB,  and that will finish off LB for this class.

M.Character

“I’m pretty solid,” he added of his commitment. “Auburn is just family. From growing up with some of the players and with the coaches, it just feels like family and it feels like home. I really like being down there and I could see myself living there.”

"I talked to Coach T-Rob on my way down there,” Character said. “He was telling me to make the best decision for myself. He’s behind me 100 percent wherever I go. I’m glad he’s behind me and supporting me on that.”

four-star E.J. Price

“When I heard Coach Grimes was leaving I didn’t really know who they were going to hire, but then they got Coach Hand right away. We already had a pretty good relationship. He’s a very likeable, personable guy. I enjoyed the experience and we’re definitely on the same page. This was a huge weekend for me and he did a great job of explaining to me more about his coaching strategies and how he works.”

Price said having K Davis already on campus is a big plus for the Tigers. Davis had nothing but positive things to say about Auburn said Price. “He loves it there."

Oddly enough I had a dream about you last night.

Went to the Super Bowl, got there early and parked outside the stadium.  You parked in front of me and got out of your large white Buick Riviera.  You offered a beer, I said I had tequila and we decided to go look for a tailgate area.

It was very strange.  That's all there was to the dream essentially.  It switched to something about a dog right after that.

HUGE NEWS!!!

After effectively eliminating Florida State from his top schools a few days ago, it would appear Nate Craig-Myers has trimmed his list yet again.
Per ESPN’s Derek Tyson, the four-star receiver from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic has cancelled his upcoming official visit to Ole Miss. That makes Auburn and North Carolina, two schools he’s already taken official visits to, the likely front-runners for Craig-Myers ahead of National Signing Day.
Craig-Myers, who de-committed from Auburn in May, is one of a handful of receivers the Tigers continue to court, along with four-stars Ahmmon Richards (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Tre Nixon (Melbourne, Fla.). He was recently visited in-home by coach Gus Malzahn, wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig and secondary coach Wesley McGriff on Sunday.
“They were telling me I’m on the top of the list of the guys that they need,” Craig-Myers said of his official visit to Auburn. “I can be one of the marquee guys who come in and play right away because they need guys.”

Following his official visit to Georgia over the weekend, David Marshall received two phone calls: one from Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and another from defensive line coachRodney Garner.
The three-star defensive end said both appeared “worried,” as Marshall, whose commitment to the Tigers has become murky in recent weeks, has shown a growing interest in the Bulldogs under Kirby Smart.
“They’re coming to see me in the morning,” said Marshall, who intends on returning to Athens next week. As a result, he will no longer visit Ole Miss on Jan. 29 as originally planned.
“I probably will be going back next weekend with Tyler Clark to hang out with the players and to get to know the new staff and coaches,” Marshall told SEC Country’s Jeff Sentell.
The 6-foot-2, 272-pound standout from Upson-Lee High School said that while he has a better overall relationship with the Tigers staff, he’s developed a better relationship with Smart.
“Auburn is still standing out because of the relationship I have with the coaches,” Marshall said. “But I have a better relationship with coach Kirby (Smart) than I do with any coaches that are recruiting me.”

Personally, I wish they would just pull his offer. Dude has been back and forth all season.

FWIW 5 STAR LB and Turd Legacy Ben Davis

"I’m going to Auburn this weekend and they are up there at my No. 3 school, but they may end up being my No. 1 school after this week. So I don’t know, we’ll just see how it goes.”

It's gonna be an extremely tough pull to take the son of the player who is the all time leading tackler at UAT.  However if we could sell him on coming to Auburn, starting from day 1, and have the Davis name as all time leading tacklers at both schools,  i think there is a CHANCE we could land him. Stranger things have happened...

There is also a chance that Saban quits the crapstone and takes the HC job at Hoover High School.
There is also a chance that Obama, Clinton, Trump and Cruz take a Jamaican cruise together this spring.
There is also a chance that Kaos orders tomatoe sandwiches every time he does fast food.
There is also a chance that no one really hates dallaswareagle.

You get the idea.

Ummm.  Not to discount your ability to copy and paste, but I know this kid and his family.  Not well, but well enough.

He's never been going to go anywhere but Bama.  Anything he's doing now is self-seeking. Keep his name out in the public and troll opposing fanbases.

If he goes to UGA (the only other place that's even remotely possible) you can put your money on Kirby Smart borrowing from the real Nick Saban playbook -- the one that keeps track of cars, suits, wheelz, steroids, cash payments and REC activities.  If Smart's doing that, UGA will go down in flames.

If I'm wrong and he comes to AU for anything other than making us look bad by pretending he's considering us and giving al.com the opportunity to write "Auburn misses on big targets on NSD while Bama climbs the recruiting rankings ladder.."  then WE are neck deep in shoot that's going to get us in trouble.

Oh, and Ole Miss is cheating like a motherfudgeer.  Not sure how they're getting away with it, but they are.  Playing for a human chipmunk in the asshole of the most racist area of the nation just isn't that compelling.

from Rusty on the UGA site

"Still hard to figure out what is exactly going on with Derrick Brown. He does not say much but I continue to hear from people I have trusted in the past that he ends up elsewhere than UGA. Right now I would say Auburn if I am a betting man, But Tennessee is in it more than people think. I do think UGA has a shot here. How much is the key? Can CKS turn this around in one home visit?"

I don't think we have ANY shot at signing Davis, but one can hope.  I mean simp COULD grow a vagina out of his ear, its unlikely, but possible.

But if you look back at my other posts in here,  I said that with the two LBs committing to Michigan, we likely sign SDjr as a Nickel LB, and be done at LB.  However should we just stop recruiting him?  Granted he (Davis) was quoted as saying "They (Auburn fans) outnumber us in Gordo."  Doesn't look too good. But you still court him unless he shuts you out.

D'Angelo Benton was a prime example. He was considered an LSU lock forever, then signed with us out of nowhere.

Again, I don't think we land him, but i do feel it isn't wise to just give up on him like we did with Mack Wilson.

Let me tell you about Davis.

He plays at a small school.  Gordo is decent but they are 3A decent.  They play in an incredibly weak division. They never won a state title because Ben was such a great athlete.

He's the "number one recruit in the state" for one simple reason.  He's been going to Bama since before he was born.

He may turn out to be the greatest thing since baked bread.  But right now he's a 3A linebacker with a dad who was a moderate talent and got a quick sip of the NFL (started one game in his 28-game career).  Daddy is a Bama legend who leads the team in career tackles to hear them tell it.  Yeah.  Number two all time at Bama is Tom Boyd. Who? Exactly.

Gordo is starved for success at the next level.  Since Davis played at Bama (and blakney at auburn) they haven't had anybody do shoot.  Their in-county rivals?  Tony Dixon of Reform played at UA and went on to the Cowboys. Courtney Taylor left Carrollton for AU and then the Seahawks.

Gordo tried to recruit both to move to play for them.  Both refused. The Gordo packed BOE voted to close Carrollton completely while Taylor was at AU.  They redrew the zones to get the best football players to Gordo.

Meanwhile Walter Jones from Aliceville made the NFL Hall of Fame as one of the best left tackles in the game.

And Gordo had nothing.  Until this was manufactured with the help of a Bama crazed media and the Tuscaloosa News.

Maybe he's great.  But I wouldn't bet on it.  And I won't lose a wink of sleep if we don't ever even talk to the kid.  Just setting ourselves up to let al.com talk about how we missed out.

I wouldn't even talk to him if I was at AU.

You and I were both at the Dale County game last year.  My comments were what a specimen this kid was.  Tall, muscular, small waist.  Best looking athlete on the field.  But, in one of the top 2-3 H.S. games I've ever seen, I don't recall him doing anything of significance.

UNC doesn't believe Jayvaughn is in play for them. This really helps AU as the boys would like to play together. However, this is not a requirement of either Meyers.

Translation:

MADE = Clothing line for Belk, designed by Cam Newton.

UNC247 = Used No Condom 247.  Weighed 247 and crushed that bitch bareback.

NCM = Nick "Cam-Lite" Marshall, former Auburn quarterback.

UNC = United Negro College. There was a fund, but Al Sharpton absconded with it.

So from what i can tell, the author of this post enjoys the slim fit of Cam Newton clothing despite his girth and propensity for barebacking former Auburn quarterbacks who are considering returning to school, but may not have a scholarship due to the absconding antics of Al.

My best friend's Mom had a red Catalina...three speed on the column. She t-boned a light pole one night as we left football practice. Crying shame!

Always got Barber's chocolate ice milk and ginger snaps. We learned to love it what with the starving people in China and such.

We would get the chek cola from Winn Dixie.  We would pour it in a cup and pretend it was real coke. Our stomachs knew it wasn't.

The kids got aluminum cups to drink from at my grandparents, each a different color and they had a certain metallic flavor that we grew to appreciate. And I would sit in my little chair that had nineteen coats of lead red on it and behave myself because if I didn't I would have to pick my own switch from the handy switch patch. A switch patch! I grew up thinking everyone had a switch patch dallas.

We weren't poor, thrifty maybe. My Dad had an $80 mortgage payment back in 1967. Next to the shotgun house we had previously, I thought I was in high cotton.

Mmm, fried spam

Two simple things opened up whole new worlds of fine eats with zero nutritional value.  Helped me achieve the ripped, God-like body I have today.

Fried bologna sammiches.  (Just yellow mustard)

Jimmy Dean microwavable sausage-biscuits.  The only limits on those were how many were in the box.

Drank welch's grape juice (from concentrate) in those metal buckets. Would pull out the center of a piece of white bread, ball it up and drop it in the juice.

Quote
David Cole made sure to first clear Nick Saban of any responsibility for the situation, instead dumping the blame on the assistant coaches picked up the recruiting efforts on the three-star linebacker following the departure of defensive coaches Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker to Georgia.

“The respect I have for Coach Saban and his family, I can’t describe enough about it,” David Cole said on JOX. “I really don’t think he knew about what was trying to be presented to us.”

It sounded as though communication dropped off with the coaching staff after the changes, and that there may have been some question as to whether or not the new leadership on the defensive coaching staff was all that wild about giving Cole a scholarship.

Because we all know that Sabban lets his assistants do whatever they want.  dumb fudge.

Auburn appears to have located its recruiting chips on the table.

Cornerback Daniel Thomas visited Auburn last weekend with the hope of landing a scholarship offer, but was told by Auburn's coaching staff Monday an offer is not coming because the Tigers' upcoming signing class is "full," the Lee-Montgomery High star told AL.com.

And...I'm an idiot.  Thought this was going down today.

Its ok, I thought signing day was he first Tuesday of Feb, always.

Right now Auburn is sitting at 17(?) recruits of which some have already enrolled. That means the AU coaches seem to think tomorrow will be a big day for the good guys.

I haven't kept up as much this year with my skreetz re: recruiting. But, I had identified DT and LB as a target need. If we get the 5 star left out there from Ga whose name I don't recall, we look pretty decent at DT, no? We gots Antwuaan Jackson, who from what I've read is pretty sporty. And maybe one other DT. But pretty skrong DE's too.

But LB? Tre Threat is a very athletic 4 star out of Spanish Fort. I've seen him and Dansbyesque comes to mind. I don't know if he's big enough to make an immediate run stopper. Maybe.

But he was the only LB, iirc. Most everyone feels that we don't have a legit shot at Davis, the 5 star Alabammer legacy. Point is, I feel like we need another LB or two. Even if it's someone who needs to develop.

Steele hasn't seemed to make a big positive impact on recruiting. Not that I expected it. But, it seems like most of the guys we are getting, we were already on their short list. At least with my limited research, I've assumed this.

Overall, must say I'm a little underwhelmed right now. The potential for PT on defense especially should be a huge attraction for these kids.

Hopefully, my attitude changes tomorrow.

Question:  In the Tayshawn Manning piece, it says he's going to try and enroll in on-line classes, either through AU or a local school.  Auburn is saying they'll honor his scholarship whenever he's ready. I assume we take him off the board for this class?  He's still listed on a couple of sites.

LB is the only thing that worries me right now.  If we do land Derrick Brown, (DT) it should be one hell of a class across the defensive front.  From the stuff I've been reading, I think we close very well in the defensive backfield.  But LB???  The only real references I see are the outside shot we have at Ben Davis, which I'm with K on.

Thinking we signed something like four 4* LBers last year. Would love to add Davis but barring a rash of injuries we should be OK.

I knew there was some reason you get to stay here. You are correct sir. I checked with my skreetz and I believe it's 4 4* and a 3*(in Muschamp's nephew)--who prolly isn't a slouch. And there is pretty good size in this group.

So, we can afford to be selective this year. I stand corrected.

So, we finish with Brown the 5*DT and maybe get the Nate Craig Meyers WR and his brother plus a safety (Warrior or the other kid) and have a very solid class.

I would think very close to top 10. I just want us to be in the top 15, as long as we are filling needs. That seems to be the magic number that will most likely allow teams to compete for titles.

Do we take a chance on the bammer reject. He is a 3 star and could be redshirted and developed. He is pissed off so he could turn into a madman. Or fizzle.

He's 6'3" 230.  Decent size and should pack some poundage on once he hits that training table.

You get corrected because those kids barely have any experience and we have to stick three of them on the field to learn on the fly. Tre' looks ready but he hasn't had to keep running on the field like the recently departed.

Let me get this out of the way three minutes before Ben Davis does what he's always intended to do.

Notice the buffalo behind him with the houndstooth coat?

Why didn't he just say what he was going to do from the outset?

Is it true they trolled and played our fight song before he put on that bammer bear hat?

Who can tell what their shootty band plays?

But he only knowed dis moanin where he be goin, so it's good the Gordo band could play the braying jackass Bama fight song. Amazingly, they were able to break into it the minute he put on that ugly ass hat.  Spontaneous!  But nobody knew where he was going!  It was a surprise.  fudge Ben Davis. And double fudge Gordo.

Gordo is a miniature Bama.  Their fans act like Bammers, the program cheats like a motherfudgeer at every level.  I hate Gordo.

They've tried to entice good players to move so they could play there.  Names you would actually know.

They packed the BOE and then closed Courtney Taylor's high school while he was still at Auburn.  Then the school districts were redrawn with a focus on where the good players were.

They undercount students to stay classified where they think they can best compete.

On state testing days underperforming students are "encouraged" to stay home.
